What is the Quebec Plumbing Code?
The Quebec Plumbing Code (Chapter III of the Construction Code) is the regulation governing all plumbing installations in Quebec. It is based on the National Plumbing Code of Canada (NPC) with Quebec-specific amendments.
The Code covers:
- Section 2: Definitions and interpretation
- Section 3: Administration and permits
- Section 4: Materials and equipment
- Section 5: Water supply systems
- Section 6: Drainage and venting systems
- Section 7: Plumbing fixtures
The RBQ is responsible for Code enforcement. RBQ inspectors verify compliance. Fines for non-compliance can reach $5,000 for individuals and $50,000 for businesses.
